My Browser And Why I Changed It

In June 2006, I decided to switch my browser.

I had just bought a new laptop computer after my existing, 2.5 year old laptop died a quick death. I discuss my choice of work computer on my Laptop Computer page.

Since I was starting to use a new computer, I figured I’d check out a few different options while I was setting the new computer up with all my favorite stuff on it.

I switched to the Mozilla Firefox browser after reading a suggestion from my web host that I could achieve faster web browsing and better security with it.

Mozilla Firefox is a web browser that has pop-up blocking, tabbed browsing, and privacy and security features that my previous browser didn’t have.

Plus it has automatic updates to ensure I have the most recent version features.

And if you add the Google Toolbar into the Firefox download you’ll also get Google search, SpellCheck, and Autofill.

For me, the most obvious benefits are the faster browsing and the tabbed browsing. This means that I can open multiple web pages within one browser window and simply flip back and forth between them.

I also like the security feature that comes with the Google toolbar. It alerts me if I visit a website that it believes has been hijacked.

Plus, you can import your Favorites from your existing browser.
